VOICES seeks volunteers throughout the year to work with our full-time staff – supporting programs, services and special events – including our annual Remembrance Symposium, Always Remember Gala, and Golf Outing. Though special skills are always welcome, the only requirement for volunteers is a desire to assist others and further our mission. Voices Center for Resilience Seeking Experienced Social Worker
 
Job Description
 
Voices Center for Resilience (VOICES), located in New Canaan, CT is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 that provides continuity of care and long-term support for individuals and families impacted by the September 11th terrorist attacks. VOICES collaborates with partners to share lessons to help communities prepare for, respond to and recover from tragedy.
 
VOICES is seeking an experienced social worker to provide trauma-informed care and address the ongoing emotional, mental health and social challenges related to the long-term impact of 9/11. As the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 approaches, VOICES is expanding its programs to meet the needs of victims’ families, responders, survivors and those who serve them. The candidate will work with VOICES Executive Director and our multi-disciplinary team to oversee a variety of social service and mental health programs to promote healing, connection and resilience.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Conducting individual assessments, case management services and referrals
  • Facilitating peer support groups
  • Implementing outreach efforts to expand our local and national partnerships
  • Assist in developing and delivering mental health programs
  • Supervise graduate student social work interns
  • Assist in facilitating the 25th Anniversary Symposium in New York City
 
Qualifications:
 
  • MSW or LCSW
  • Caseload management and facilitation of peer support groups
  • Experience conducting intakes, assessments and referrals
  • Experience providing trauma-informed care and grief counseling
  • Program development
  • Excellent communications and writing skills
 
Preferred Skills:
 
  • Working with individuals and communities impacted by traumatic events
  • Expertise working with victims’ families, survivors and responders
  • Conducting workshops and trainings
  • Supervising students and community volunteers, SIFI Certification
 
This is a full-time position in VOICES New Canaan, CT office. The position includes health care benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.
