In the aftermath of 9/11, VOICES created a new paradigm in victim services by providing long-term support programs. Recognizing that individuals grieve differently, and in their own time, our comprehensive programs are based on an ongoing assessment of the evolving needs of those we serve.
Who We Support
Since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, VOICES has been helping families and communities heal after tragedy. After almost two decades of providing victims’ families, survivors and responders with critical support, we are building on our expertise with new programming, training, education, and resources to help those on their path to resilience, and to better serve our growing community.

We pride ourselves as a premier organization that recognizes the importance of promoting positive mental health care and wellness for people faced with adversity. Your support will advance our vision to ensure that those impacted by tragedy receive the long-term care they need to ensure healing and resilience in their lives.

9/11 Victims’ Families

VOICES was formed to help 9/11 families get accurate information and support—guiding them through grief, paperwork, benefits, and resources from trusted organizations.

9/11 Responders

After 9/11, responders faced lasting mental and physical health effects. VOICES supports them through virtual and in-person groups led by trained social workers.

9/11 Survivors

Many who lived, worked, or studied near the towers faced trauma, loss, and displacement. VOICES helps survivors manage ongoing mental and physical health issues.

Other Communities

VOICES promotes long-term mental health care and resilience for those impacted by tragedy. Your support helps us deliver healing, hope, and vital wellness resources.

Support Services

VOICES has developed multi-faceted programs to foster healing and connection among those impacted by 9/11. These include discussion groups, educational webinars, and peer-to-peer support. Our Community Support Groups offer a space for families, survivors, and responders to share experiences, find comfort, and build meaningful relationships.

We remain committed to offering long-term support, ensuring continued access to resources, mental health care, and programs that help individuals strengthen resilience and navigate life after trauma.

In addition to direct services, VOICES works to raise awareness about the ongoing needs of the 9/11 community, advocating for policies and programs that support their well-being.

Our groups create a safe, confidential space for those impacted by tragedy to connect, share experiences, and heal through the support of trained peers.

Founded in 2022, this group offers peer support for parents who’ve lost a child, connecting them through shared experience, grief, and mutual understanding.

Our staff offers one-on-one consultations to assess needs and connect individuals with helpful programs, services, or referrals to trusted outside resources.

Commemoration & Advocacy
Commemoration, remembrance activities and the arts can all contribute to the healing process of individuals and communities impacted by mass violence. VOICES hosts an annual September 9 Symposium and September 10 Information Forum in NYC to inform the 9/11 community, and promotes commemorative ceremonies in communities throughout the U.S. and abroad.

VOICES also continues to be a non-partisan advocate for sensible changes in public policy that make America safer, emphasizing the importance of applying the lessons learned in each disaster event. Among its focus areas, VOICES will encourage the adoption of disaster plans that include long-term care for families and survivors.

9/11 Living Memorial

VOICES honors the 2,983 lives tragically lost on 9/11 and in 1993, helping families create lasting tributes and documenting survivors’ stories through personal outreach.

9/11 Advocacy

Since inception, VOICES has championed the rights of families, survivors, and responders—advocating for reforms in mental health, victims’ rights, and national preparedness.

Memorialization

Memorials, expressive arts, and remembrance activities offer meaningful ways for individuals and communities to reflect, grieve, and heal after tragedy and mass violence.
