Voices of September 11^th (VOICES) will be hosting its 4th annual charity golf outing on Monday, July 23, 2018. The event will be held at the Westchester Country Club’s West Course in Rye, New York.  An optional 9-hole round at the Club’s Par 3 Course will be made available, which was designed with the same quality fairways and greens as the West Course.

The VOICES outing is co-chaired by New Canaan residents Peter Krieger and Jack Loop.  Committee members include George Bodenheimer, Linus Cooke, Robert Doran, John Duffy, Bill Fessler, Peter Finnican, Frank Fetchet, Jerry Miller, Mark Silverman, and Kurt Wolfgruber. The theme for the day is building resiliency.

The featured speakers at this year’s awards program and dinner reception will be former New York Mets Manager Bobby Valentine and ESPN host Mike Greenberg.

Bobby Valentine played in Major League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and Seattle Mariners. He also managed the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox and was Manager of the New York Mets on September 11, 2001. Valentine currently serves as Athletic Director at Sacred Heart University, Director of Public Safety & Health for the city of Stamford, Connecticut and is an analyst for ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.

Mike Greenberg is the host of ESPN’s new morning show Get Up, which debuted on April 2, 2018. Greenberg co-hosted ESPN’s long-running Mike & Mike program with Mike Golic, and is a New York Times best-selling author.  In 2016, both Greenberg and Golic were inducted in the National Association of Broadcasters Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

“We’re thrilled that Mike is once again Honorary Chair of this year’s outing, and that he and Bobby Valentine will be the keynote speakers at the awards reception,” said Committee Co-Chair Peter Krieger. “One of our special guests for the day will be Governor Thomas Kean, co-chair of the 9/11 Commission.  We also hope to sponsor recovery workers and servicemen and servicewomen to attend the event, as a way of thanking them for their commitment to our country.”

“Funds raised from the golf outing and reception will enable VOICES to provide long-term mental health care for victims’ families, responders and survivors and to assist communities in preparing for and recovering from acts of terrorism and mass violence, both here in the US and abroad,” explained VOICES Founding Director Mary Fetchet.  “The event will also support VOICES Resilience Center, which assists communities impacted by traumatic events, by providing training, conferences, and conducting research.”
