Dear Families and Friends,

Registration is open for VOICES Always Remember Gala to be held on Thursday, November 14th at the New York Athletic Club. Join us to celebrate A Night of Champions, when we will recognize ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro with VOICES 2024 Leadership Award and 9/11 Day Co-founders Jay Winuk and David Paine with VOICES 2024 Legacy Award.

Thank you to all who attended VOICES 2024 NYC Symposium, Bringing Communities Together, held in partnership with LinCT-AA, INVICTM, our 9/11 Community partners and NYPD Shield. A special thank you to our generous sponsors, our incredible presenters and the NYPD Ceremonial Unit who contributed to making the Symposium a tremendous success!

The anniversary of 9/11 is an emotional time of year, and we are grateful to our friends from the American Group Psychological Association who facilitated virtual gatherings for our 9/11 Community members before and after the anniversary.

As we look ahead to the month of October, we wish you a peaceful and happy autumn!

With warm regards,
Mary Fetchet & the VOICES Team

As part of this year’s Symposium VOICES was proud to participate in our inaugural 9/11 Day of Service Project. Panelists and attendees were invited to assemble Preparedness Backpacks.

In the spirit of the National Day of Service and Remembrance, all who took part in the event created one backpack for themselves and paid it forward by creating a second backpack that we will distribute to others. VOICES is extremely grateful to 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps who sponsored the project.

Commemorating the 23rd Anniversary VOICES Candlelighting Ceremony

Commemorating the 23rd Anniversary VOICES Candlelighting Ceremony

Each year, VOICES commemorates the anniversary of 9/11 with a candle lighting ceremony. This year, members of our 9/11 Community family volunteered to participate in a taping of the service which was broadcast at our 2024 Symposium on September 10th.

The candle lighting ceremony allows us to reflect on the years that have passed as we remember those who were taken on that day. We pay tribute to our loved ones by lighting candles that illuminate their memory.

Virtual Gatherings for the 9/11 Community

VOICES hosted two support groups that provided an opportunity for 9/11 family members, responders, survivors, and families of those impacted by 9/11-related illness to gather virtually in advance of, and after the 23rd Anniversary of 9/11. Participants were placed in small discussion groups to allow for meaningful conversation.

We are grateful to Dr. Suzanne Phillips, Dr. Craig Haen and their colleagues from the American Group Psychological Association (AGPA) who facilitated the sessions.
