Douglas Oelschlager. Every September 11 in Aspen Colorado, where I have lived and worked for 50 years, we have a solemn ceremony to honor the fallen firefighters of 9-11. There is a red rose with a photo and name for firefighter, and we citizens each take a few of them home. I happened to pick the rose for Douglas Oelschlager. I will say his name forever, so he will always be remembered for his service and ultimate sacrifice. I am a retired 30-year deputy sheriff. So, 2,000 miles from Manhattan, Douglas (whom of course I never knew) is honored and remembered.
