After the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I saw an Instagram post of someone running a mile for each life lost. I was inspired and so now I am hiking a mile to honor the lives lost on that day, a day to never forget and lives to never forget.

On 10/31/2026, I hiked a mile in honor of Angelo Amaranto.

I read his tributes. Angelo was from Salerno, Italy and born in 1941. My dad’s family immigrated from Salerno and my dad was also born in 1941. I learned that Angelo loved to eat and he loved life.

God bless Angelo and his loved ones.
