About:

The Port Authority 911 Memorial in West Orange was dedicated on October 2, 2003. This memorial is located in the Crystal Lake section of West Orange. It sits on a hill overlooking the stage of the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center on Boland Drive. The centerpiece is a crossbeam from the 66th floor of the South Tower. It is set in black granite and gray and red stone. Two 35-foot-tall flagpoles represent the twin towers. “This structural steel, from the 66th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center, rests here as testament to the horror that befell us and the heroism that prevailed on September 11, 2001.” The plaque also lists the names of the 37 police officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey killed on 9/11.
