Biography:

Owen Carlock was a firefighter with the FDNY from 1981 to 2004, working out of Ladder 122 and Engine 220 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and for a while as a rescue diver at Rescue 5 in Staten Island. He and his family moved to Middletown from Staten Island in 2000.

Owen is a graduate of the New York City School of Printing and the FDNY Academy. Owen was last employed by Vornado Realty. Owen's true calling was a New York City Firefighter from 1981 through 2004. He was a September 11, 2001 first responder from Ladder 122 in Brooklyn. His dedication and bravery during the tragedy earned him the Honorary Keys to the City from the Town of Dunn, NC. For a period, Owen was part of Rescue 5 in Staten Island and was a certified rescue diver. While Owen had received many awards and honors, he would be the first to say he was just doing his duty to protect those in harm's way. Owen will be missed, but will always remain a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He was at the World Trade Center when the towers fell, and worked there for months after.
