About the Voices of September 11th Living Memorial digital archive: The 9/11 Living Memorial is a digital archive that commemorates the lives of those who perished and documents firsthand accounts of rescue workers, survivors and the response of corporations at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA.
VOICES launched the project in September, 2006 and has hosted 50 workshops around the country. VOICES staff meets with family members one-on-one to digitize photographs, eulogies, written tributes and other personal keepsakes. The archive is currently online and contains over 1,400 individual tributes to those who perished and documents over 500 memorials that were built in their memory. VOICES’ goal is to create a comprehensive archive with tributes to each of those who perished by the time the Memorial Museum opens its doors in 2011. The archive will be expand over time and be incorporated into the National September 11 Memorial Museum at the World Trade Center.
