Last week, we received news from Joe Daniels at the 9/11 Memorial that this year's commemoration will be held on September 11th at the National September 11 Memorial in New York City.

We are putting the finishing touches on tomorrow night's gala and are excited that so many family members will be joining us this year! One of the highlights of the evening is always the silent auction. You never know what Stephanie and her team will "discover" to tempt the gala participants.

One week to go until VOICES Always Remember gala! The gala team is busy assembling auction packages, planning table decorations and putting together seating charts. The musicians are rehearsing and speakers are polishing their remarks.

In advance of our June 20th Gala, we would like to share with you a short video, VOICES Always Remembers, created by filmmaker Jake Diserio. It features two of our keynote speakers from our previous Galas, President Bill Clinton and former Prime Minister Tony Blair, as well as a memorable performance by Jon Bon Jovi.

In this workshop we will learn a basic style of Buddhist meditation (no beliefs required!), consider how meditation can bring new perspective, and contemplate ways to bring greater wisdom, skill, and kindness into our lives. The session will include both initial meditation instruction and a brief introduction to practices that cultivate kindness and openness.

This weekend there will be Memorial Day parades in communities throughout the United States paying tribute to our veterans and the brave men and women who died serving our country. In our town, the high school band will play and sports teams, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Indian Princesses and their dads march.

This Sunday marks Mother's Day, a day to remember our mothers and reflect on the important role mothers play in shaping the lives of children. This is always an emotional time for those who have lost their mothers, children who have lost parents and parents who have lost children.

The Anne Frank Center USA and Voices of September 11th will co-host a 4-session diary writing workshop beginning in May. We hope you will join us! The workshop will be taught by Maureen McNeil, Director of Education, at the Center's gallery, located at 44 Park Place, two blocks north of the 9/11 Memorial.
